#MeetRegan Kirby Franzese

We’re continuing our #MeetRegan blog series! Each month we will be introducing you to a new team member and sharing a quick Q&A with them. This month we have Kirby Franzese from our Boston office. Kirby went from the warm weather in Southern California to join team Joanna last year and we couldn’t be happier to have her!

Tell us about yourself: how did you end up at Regan and what is your day-to-day like?

I have always known I wanted to work in PR (thank you – Samantha Jones from Sex and the City.) I went to school in Southern California, Chapman University in Orange County, and studied Public Relations and Advertising. After working at a PR agency that dealt mainly with non-profits, I found my way to Regan Communications and on Team Joanna. I am forever thankful that I took a leap of faith and applied to my current position, and was given the chance to work at Regan Communications. Working on Team Joanna is an incredible honor, I’m able to work on all types of great accounts, everything from national brands selling consumer products, to an adorable local cupcake shop – it’s been so much fun!

What do you love about PR and what are some of the skills necessary to succeed in this industry?

I love the different PR strategies that go into a large campaign, it’s fun to come up with the different ways to reach your target market. I think to be successful in the field you need to be patient and confident, dealing with the media is not always easy, so you need to be confident in what you’re pitching and have the patience to see it all the way through.

Favorite winter activity or spot in Boston? Do you have a favorite that locals and newcomers alike might not be aware of?

I’m a big fan of a nice dinner and cocktail after a long week. I live in the North End, and love Italian food so one of my favorite dinner spots is Panza on Hanover Street, and then ending the night with an Espresso Martini from Bricco.

What’s one piece of advice you would share with someone looking to jump into a role in PR?

I would suggest interning as much as possible, you learn so many valuable real-life skills when you intern, which are essential when you transition into a full-time PR career.
